I’m Avinash Sampath. Let’s go with Avi. I'm an award-winning advertising creative based in Amsterdam. I'm originally from Chennai, India, where I studied Advertising and Film-making.

Started out as a Copywriter with Ogilvy Bangalore >> Contract (JWT) Mumbai >> Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai >> Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Amsterdam. 

 

And then to test the potential of a ‘why not’ attitude, I co-founded a boutique creative agency based in Amsterdam and Ibiza. Lovely. No, that’s what we called it - Lovely. Ran that for almost 10 years. And somewhere along the way…

INT.  APARTMENT, AMSTERDAM. - DAY

​

A charming, but sleepy, middle-aged Indian man sits down for breakfast. Bowl includes: Two kinds of muesli, blueberries, raspberries, almond milk, topped with grated coconut. SUDDENLY, the spoon drops. Milk SPLASHES on his well-worn sleepy tee. Mouth open. Eyes unblinking. SFX: Angelic "AHHH". An epiphany.

I want to write a movie.

Somewhere along the way, I also took to screenwriting; have two movies streaming on Netflix. And won an Indian Filmfare Award for Screenplay of the Year 2025.

Currently, I’m a Writer working directly with brands, freelancing with agencies and collectives, and cooking up plots for movies and series.

 

I enjoy Advertising and Screenwriting in equal measure.
